Vendor needs to provide automated medication dispensing system that supports decentralized medication management includes
- Streamlines medication distribution and workflow, providing more time to focus on patients and clinical activities.
- Improves nursing and pharmacy collaboration. Orders and order status are transmitted electronically so information is readily accessible.
- Supports Joint Commission and regulatory compliance efforts. Protects against unauthorized access, documents use, promotes pharmacist order review, provides patient education material.
- Features to prevent loading of the wrong medication and active alerts to provide an added safety precaution for high risk medications.
- Enhances patient throughput, narcotics management and pharmacy operations.
- Helps starts patient therapies faster by reducing time to first dose. Ensures medications are available in care areas, even after hours.
- Reduces risk of harm early in the medication process by warning clinicians about potential errors before they reach the bedside. Limits access to a single dose and provides information on medication use.
- For quick but secure access, medstations have a biometric ID system.
